I'll admit this was an impulse knitting project. What was I thinking? Eleven - yes 11! - balls of Plush for a child's drag-around blanket! Started this when we were waiting to go get Emily, so I guess that level of emotional upheaval gives me some dispensation for knitting insanity. Anyway, it will be cute.
I'm a tad annoyed with their pattern. They never mention how to best sew it together. I was about 12 blocks into it when I saw the coming issue and started planning what length of tail (if any) to leave when starting a new color. Also, started using any touching corners of the same color to continue in that color. You can see my final diagram over on the upper right. I need to make the most of these last squares to make up for missed tails from the beginning.
Now I'm having a little case of sib rivalry around here. Not going to cut it in half or anything that Solomonic (hey, it's my "baby" first and foremost), but I think I will give the Anni to Rachel because it so beautifully matches her IKEA decorated room and orange wall. She's got each of these colors in there already. For Emily I will use the two or three left over balls (combined volume - no one ball that can be returned, no, not anything that useful) and make a mini drag-around, which is what she wants anyway. There, queen mommy speaks.
Emily is just a cutie pie - i could gobble her up! Too bad we are so far away, she and TJ would hve a ball. I think they are both little bundles of energy. :) Love the blanket, too - the colors are such fun. Your solution is perfect - Mommy has spoken!
